Video disclosure via challenge-response authentication bypass
Published Mar 18, 2025 · Updated Mar 25, 2025
Improper authentication in Forvia Hella HELLA Driving Recorder DR 820 allows remote attackers to access stored and live video over Wi-Fi. The port 9091 API lists SD-card recordings and port 9092 serves live video, but public records do not explain how the challenge-response check is bypassed. Network access to the recorder’s Wi-Fi services is required; exposure is limited to recorded and live video, including location and personal data.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
