Footage disclosure via embedded API credentials
Published Mar 18, 2025 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Hard-coded credentials in the IROAD Q9 mobile application 5.2.5 and earlier allow physically proximate attackers to access dashcam APIs. The APK embeds separate static username-password pairs for the settings service on port 9091 and streaming service on port 9092, which accept crafted authentication commands. Access requires connection to the dashcam's local Wi-Fi network and exposes device settings plus live and recorded footage without user interaction.
