Adjacent-network traffic sniffing via fixed Wi-Fi password
Published Mar 18, 2025 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Use of a hard-coded password in IROAD Q9 dashcams allows physically proximate attackers to join the device's Wi-Fi network and sniff traffic. The dashcam always broadcasts its SSID and accepts the immutable password instead of requiring a device-specific or user-changeable secret. Exploitation requires Wi-Fi range and exposes traffic from devices connected to the dashcam network, including a paired smartphone.
