Root command execution via DDSH shell metacharacters
Published Aug 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
OS command injection in the DDSH CLI in Dell PowerProtect Data Domain allows local users to execute arbitrary commands as root. Dell has disclosed only that DDSH fails to neutralize special shell elements; no vulnerable command, parameter, or code path is public. The required gate is high-privilege local access to an affected DD OS release; successful exploitation crosses the remaining boundary to root.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.10.1.0 <=7.10.1.50
- Affected versionversion=7.13.1.0 <=7.13.1.25
