CVE-2025-2999Public exploit

Local process crash via empty PackedSequence metadata

Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Mar 31, 2025

Memory corruption in PyTorch 2.6.0 allows local users to crash a Python process through unpack_sequence with an empty PackedSequence. The function passes empty data and batch_sizes metadata into sequence unpacking and segfaults instead of rejecting the invalid object. PyTorch's published security policy treats invalid-argument crashes from local callers as ordinary bugs because such callers already execute native code.
