Root command execution via unauthenticated TCP listener
Published Apr 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Remote command execution in Yi IOT XY-3820 firmware 6.0.24.10 allows remote attackers to run commands as root over TCP port 999. The cmd_listen function accepts text before the $$boundary delimiter as a shell command without authentication or filtering. The cmd binary is absent from the normal boot sequence, so it must already be running or be launched through another flaw before remote exploitation.
