CVE-2025-29635Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated command execution via unsanitized macaddr input

Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 25, 2026

Command injection in D-Link DIR-823X firmware 240126 and 240802 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The set_prohibiting handler copies the untrusted macaddr value into a command buffer with snprintf and passes it to system() without neutralizing shell metacharacters. The original disclosure requires an authorized session, but Akamai later observed exploit requests without tokens triggering the same system() path.
