CVE-2025-29606Network attack vector

Node service interruption via unbounded RSA keys

Published Jul 14, 2025 · Updated Jul 14, 2025

Resource exhaustion in libp2p py-libp2p before 0.2.3 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt a node via a large RSA key. RSAPublicKey.from_bytes imports an unbounded peer-supplied key, and subsequent signature verification consumes excessive processing time. A connected peer must supply the oversized key; confidentiality and integrity remain unaffected, while node availability is reduced.
