Authenticated root command execution via time_zone injection
Published Jul 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
OS command injection in PowerStick Wave Dual-Band WiFi Extender 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The /etc/nginx/cgi-bin/cgi_vista.cgi handler passes the NTP settings time_zone value from command ID 55 to a system-level call without sanitizing shell metacharacters. Access to the device web interface with valid credentials is required; successful exploitation grants full control of the extender.
