Process crash via stale spatial-reference object
Published Apr 7, 2025 · Updated Jul 24, 2025
Use-after-free in GDAL 3.10.2 allows local users to crash vector translation by processing crafted spatial-reference data. The published reproducer says OGRShapeLayer frees a cloned OGRSpatialReference::Private object before OGRSpatialReference::Release dereferences it during layer cleanup. Triggering requires local execution of an ogr2ogr vector translation with crafted spatial-reference input; GDAL reports that the case is invalid and could not be reproduced.
