JavaScript execution via unsafe query-result measurement
Published Apr 3, 2025 · Updated Apr 3, 2025
Cross-site scripting in pgAdmin 4 9.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through rendered query results. The shared measureText function assigns database-supplied result text to a hidden element with innerHTML, causing the browser to parse markup rather than measure plain text. An authenticated user must connect to a database and render attacker-controlled cell content in the Query Tool or View/Edit Data grid; execution is confined to that user's browser context.
