CVE-2025-29457Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Sensitive data exposure via theme import SSRF

Published Apr 17, 2025 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Server-side request forgery in MyBB 1.8.38 allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive data through the Import a Theme function. The public report does not disclose how a supplied theme URL defeats the private-host and IPv4 deny lists enforced by fetch_remote_file. Exploitation requires a board administrator permitted to import themes; MyBB disputes the issue because that role is trusted and the request filtering is intended to block SSRF.
