CVE-2025-2938Network attack vector

Project privilege escalation via approval-time role changes

Published Jun 26, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026

Business logic errors in GitLab allow remote authenticated users to gain elevated project privileges through project access requests. The project access approval workflow accepts role modifications made while a request is pending and grants the resulting unintended permissions. Exploitation requires an authenticated account, a project accepting access requests, and a role change during approval; the consequence is limited to project permissions.
