CVE-2025-29365Public exploit

Host-memory corruption via unchecked syscall length

Published Aug 22, 2025 · Updated Aug 22, 2025

Buffer overflow in SPIM 9.1.24 and earlier allows attackers to corrupt host memory by running a crafted MIPS assembly program. READ_STRING_SYSCALL passes a guest-controlled destination and length to read_input after validating only the starting address, so input can cross the allocated virtual-memory segment boundary. Exploitation requires execution of attacker-supplied assembly in SPIM; the published proof of concept demonstrates an out-of-bounds host write, while arbitrary code execution is not demonstrated.
