Root code execution via unverified update downloads
Published Jun 26, 2025 · Updated Jun 26, 2025
Improper certificate validation in MHSanaei 3x-ui before 2.5.3 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute arbitrary code during updates. The x-ui management script passes --no-check-certificate to wget and performs no later checksum verification on the downloaded script. An attacker must intercept or redirect an administrator-initiated update; the malicious script is made executable and runs with root privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
