Application crash via unchecked address encoding

Heap-based buffer overflow in HDF5 1.14.0 through 1.14.6 allows local users to crash applications by processing a crafted HDF5 file. H5F_addr_encode_len writes addr_len bytes through pp without checking the remaining heap-buffer boundary, so an eight-byte address can overrun the allocation by at least one byte. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and file processing; the demonstrated consequence is a segmentation fault during post-processing.
