CVE-2025-29227Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via ping packet size

Published Mar 21, 2025 · Updated Mar 21, 2025

Command injection in Linksys E5600 firmware 1.1.0.26 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through a crafted ping packet-size value. The runtime.pingTest function in \usr\share\lua\runtime.lua uses the pt["pkgsize"] value without neutralizing command syntax before performing the ping operation. Authentication over the network is required, and successful injection runs commands with the function's device privileges.
