Root-password recovery via legacy DES hash

Weak password hashing in Netis Systems WF-2404 1.1.124EN allows physically proximate attackers to recover the root password. The firmware stores the root account's traditional DES crypt hash in /etc/passwd, and the published test cracked it to plaintext in 12 seconds. Access requires opening the router and attaching to its UART test points; disclosure is limited to the root credential.
