Authenticated arbitrary file read via path traversal
Published Mar 28, 2025 · Updated Mar 28, 2025
Path traversal in ChestnutCMS 1.5.0 through 1.5.3 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files via filePath. The /dev-api/cms/file/read endpoint gives its readFile function an attacker-controlled path without restricting traversal outside the intended directory. A valid low-privileged session is required, and readable files accessible to the service account can be disclosed.
