CVE-2025-29070Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process crash via unchecked tone-curve smoothing parameters

Published Apr 1, 2025 · Updated Apr 4, 2025

Heap buffer overflow in Little CMS 2.16 allows remote attackers to crash a calling process through crafted tone-curve parameters. The smooth2 helper accepts tables with fewer than four elements or a near-zero lambda, then indexes fixed elements and divides by an unstable determinant, causing an out-of-bounds read. Upstream disputes remote reachability because normal color management never calls this low-level helper, limiting demonstrated impact to a caller-controlled process crash.
