Root command execution via newline filter bypass
Published Apr 17, 2025 · Updated May 1, 2025
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-823X firmware 240802 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through diag_ping. The target_addr value reaches a system command in function 0x41737c, and a newline bypasses its character filter to introduce an additional root command. The record rates access as unauthenticated, but the published proof of concept logs in and submits the request with session cookies and a token.
