Administrator privilege removal via forged notice dismissal
Published Apr 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in QuadLayers QuadMenu 3.2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to set administrator user metadata to 1. The ajax_dismiss_notice function processes a forged dismissal request without valid nonce verification and writes an attacker-selected user metadata key with the fixed value 1. Exploitation requires an administrator to open the forged request, and setting wp_capabilities can remove that administrator's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
