PDF signature spoofing via unchecked SignatureValue
Published Apr 27, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Improper PDF signature verification in LibreOffice 24.8 before 24.8.6 and 25.2 before 25.2.2 allows attackers to spoof valid signatures. The adbe.pkcs7.sha1 verifier compared document hashes but never checked the SignerInfo SignatureValue against the public key. A user must open a crafted PDF, after which LibreOffice can display an invalid document signature as valid without exposing or altering file contents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
