CVE-2025-2843Network attack vector

Cluster-wide privilege escalation via overprivileged ServiceAccount creation

Published Nov 12, 2025 · Updated Nov 12, 2025

Privilege escalation in Red Hat Cluster Observability Operator 1.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to gain cluster-level permissions. The MonitorStack reconciler accepts a namespace-scoped resource but creates a ServiceAccount bound to a ClusterRole, crossing the caller's privilege boundary. A Kubernetes account permitted to create MonitorStack resources in one namespace can impersonate that ServiceAccount and exercise its cluster-wide privileges.
