CVE-2025-2842Network attack vector

Cluster metrics disclosure via overprivileged service account

Published Apr 2, 2025 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Sensitive information exposure in Grafana Tempo Operator before 0.15.3 allows remote authenticated users to read all cluster metrics. When the Jaeger UI Monitor Tab targets OpenShift's Thanos Querier, the operator binds the Tempo service account to the cluster-wide cluster-monitoring-view role instead of namespace-scoped metric permissions. Exploitation requires permission to create TempoStack resources and read Secrets in the same namespace, enabling theft of the service-account token but no metric modification.
