Root access via unauthenticated UART console
Published May 9, 2025 · Updated May 12, 2025
Improper access control in Victure RX1800 firmware EN_V1.0.0_r12_110933 allows physically proximate attackers to gain root access via UART. The exposed 115200-baud UART console accepts input after boot and presents an unauthenticated root shell, permitting arbitrary commands and access to sensitive data. Exploitation requires opening the router and attaching a serial adapter to PCB pads; the demonstrated access can also reach U-Boot and read or modify flash.
