Stored XSS via unescaped post content rendering
Published Apr 21, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Stored XSS in flaskBlog 2.6.1 allows remote attackers to execute scripts in visitors' browsers through crafted post content. The post display template renders stored postContent through Jinja's safe filter, suppressing HTML escaping for attacker-controlled markup. A valid session and CSRF token are used to submit a post, and execution occurs when a visitor loads the blog home page, exposing that visitor's browser-accessible data and actions.
