Memory corruption via unchecked TTF name copy
Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Buffer overflow in Artifex Ghostscript before 10.05.0 allows local users to corrupt process memory via a crafted PDF with a long TTF font name. In pdf/pdf_fmap.c, the PDF font-mapping path copies the TTF name into a buffer without first checking that the name fits. Exploitation requires Ghostscript to process the crafted document; the overflow can crash the process, while public records do not establish reliable code execution.
