Code execution via unchecked long-character copy
Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Buffer overflow in the DOCXWRITE/TXTWRITE devices in Artifex Ghostscript before 10.05.0 allows attackers to execute code via crafted input. The text-emission path in devices/vector/doc_common.c copies long character data into a text buffer without first ensuring that the destination is large enough. Processing a malicious document can execute code in the invoking application’s context; the public demonstration requires opening the file in LibreOffice.
