Administrator impersonation via incorrect role-array lookup
Published Mar 7, 2025 · Updated Mar 7, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Backdrop CMS Masquerade before 1.x-1.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate administrators. The masquerade access check tests configured administrator role IDs against array keys instead of role values, so the separate admin permission is skipped. A role with the "Masquerade as user" permission is required; successful exploitation grants the target administrator account's privileges.
