Administrator takeover via unsafe lshw XML parsing
Published May 7, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
XXE in SysAid On-Premises 23.3.40 and earlier allows remote attackers to read files and take over administrator accounts via /lshw. The LshwAgent handler passes unauthenticated POST body data to a SAXParser without disabling external entities, allowing attacker-controlled entity resolution. No login is required; blind entity callbacks can exfiltrate suitable single-line local files, including the installer-created file containing the main administrator credentials.
