Local code execution via use-after-free
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Microsoft Excel across affected Office releases allows attackers to execute code after opening a crafted file. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected Excel parser or the object-lifetime error that leaves freed memory reachable during workbook processing. Exploitation requires a user to open the attacker-supplied file, and successful code runs in that user's security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
