SYSTEM privilege escalation via undisclosed use-after-free
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free memory corruption in Microsoft Windows Digital Media allows local users with low privileges to elevate to SYSTEM. Microsoft identifies both use-after-free and double-free weakness classes but has not published the affected object, function, or triggering input in the media-processing path. Exploitation requires local access and an existing low-privilege account; successful exploitation grants full control of the affected Windows host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
