CVE-2025-27656

Samba password disclosure via process arguments

Published Mar 5, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Plaintext password exposure in Vasion Print before 20.0.2014 and Virtual Appliance Host before 22.0.862 allows local users to read Samba credentials. The dperson/samba Docker entrypoint receives the admin username and plaintext password in command-line arguments, exposing both through the host and container process lists. Any local user who can enumerate appliance processes can recover the Samba password and use it for lateral movement.
