Improper signature verification in CarlinKit CPC200-CCPA 2024.01.19.1541 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code as root. The USB-drive update handler accepts an update package without properly verifying its cryptographic signature before execution. Physical access to the device and a crafted USB drive are required; successful exploitation grants root-level control of the adapter.
