CVE-2025-27608

Script execution via unencoded notification tooltip

Published Apr 2, 2025 · Updated Apr 3, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Arduino IDE before 2.3.5 allows attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted Board Manager URL. The Additional Board Manager URLs setting passes entered values to dangerouslySetInnerHTML in the Electron notification component without output encoding, causing markup to be interpreted as executable content. Exploitation requires a user to enter the payload and expose it in a notification; resulting actions run within the IDE's Electron context.
