CVE-2025-27599Network attack vector

Camera and microphone exposure via unchecked call URL

Published Apr 18, 2025 · Updated Apr 18, 2025

Improper intent validation in Element X Android before 25.04.2 allows attackers to grant malicious webpages camera and microphone access. CallIntentDataParser extracted URLs from element and io.element.call intents without validating their hosts, then loaded them with Element Call permissions. A crafted hyperlink or locally installed malicious app can invoke the exported activity, exposing the camera and microphone temporarily.
