Remote code execution via upload path traversal
Published Mar 7, 2025 · Updated Mar 7, 2025
Path traversal in TrueFoundry Cognita before commit a78bd065e05a1b30a53a3386cc02e08c317d2243 allows remote attackers to execute code. The /v1/internal/upload-to-local-directory handler joins an untrusted filename to the destination and writes it without resolving or restricting the resulting path. The endpoint is enabled when Local is true, including in the default Docker setup; overwriting /app/backend/init.py triggers Uvicorn auto-reload and executes code inside the container.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
