CVE-2025-27513Network attack vector

Denial of service via nonadvancing duplicate-key scan

Published Mar 5, 2025 · Updated Mar 5, 2025

Denial of service in OpenTelemetry.Api 1.10.0-beta.1 through 1.11.1 allows remote attackers to hang request processing via tracing headers. TraceContextPropagator.Extract scans tracestate keys for duplicates, but its comparison span is not advanced after certain non-key substring matches, causing an infinite loop. Any unauthenticated HTTP request with traceparent and crafted tracestate headers can consume a processing thread and drive high CPU, latency, or downtime.
