Memory corruption via incorrect position-key count tracking
Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Open Asset Import Library Assimp 5.4.3 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory through a malformed CSM file. CSMImporter::InternReadFile overwrites mNumPositionKeys with the resized buffer's capacity, then uses it as the next index and writes past the allocation. Processing attacker-supplied CSM content is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a write-access crash, not code execution.
