Unauthenticated code execution via gateway use-after-free
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows Server Remote Desktop Gateway Service allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code over a network. Microsoft has disclosed that the gateway service reuses memory after freeing it, but has not identified the responsible function or request field. An unauthenticated network connection can reach the flaw, but successful exploitation requires a high-complexity condition and grants code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
