SYSTEM privilege escalation via LSA heap overflow
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows LSA allows local users with low privileges to elevate to SYSTEM via a crafted local operation. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected LSA routine, input format, or heap-copy operation that mishandles attacker-controlled data. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and high-complexity conditions, after which arbitrary SYSTEM-level actions are possible.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
