Administrative control via empty-password digest forgery
Published Mar 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Authentication bypass in Kentico Xperience 13.0.172 and earlier allows remote attackers to control administrative objects via forged staging requests. The Staging Sync Server returns an empty password for an unknown username, while attacker-selected PasswordDigest mode hashes only the nonce and timestamp. Exploitation requires the disabled-by-default staging service to use username-and-password authentication; X.509 authentication is unaffected.
