VNC password recovery via exposed challenge-response exchange
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated Jul 3, 2025
Weak VNC authentication in Endress+Hauser MEAC300-FNADE4 all versions allows remote attackers to recover the VNC password. The VNC server exposes an unencrypted challenge and encrypted response produced with the shared password, enabling offline password derivation. An attacker must capture a client authentication exchange; successful recovery grants the access available to that VNC account.
