Administrator access via unrestricted account creation
Published Mar 3, 2025 · Updated Mar 3, 2025
Authentication bypass in Faction Security FACTION before 1.4.3 allows remote attackers to create an administrator account. The Login.execute path accepts an action=create registration POST after initial setup because it does not require AccessControl.isNewInstance to remain true. No authorization or user interaction is required, but the request must satisfy account-field validation before the new account can log in.
