Administrator code execution via traversed TAR entries
Published Feb 28, 2025 · Updated Mar 4, 2025
Path traversal in PwnDoc before 1.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite server files through a crafted backup TAR entry. The backup.js restore handler accepts an allowed directory prefix, then appends the unnormalized entry name to destPath when opening its write stream. Administrator backup permissions are required by default; overwriting loaded JavaScript and restarting the container executes supplied code.
