Arbitrary file read via unchecked plugin asset paths
Published Apr 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Path traversal in Joplin Server before 3.3.3 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through plugin asset URLs. The default route's findLocalFile function returns a path produced by localFileFromUrl for css/pluginAssets or js/pluginAssets prefixes without rejecting traversal segments. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful requests disclose files readable by the server process.
