CVE-2025-27234

Authenticated code execution via smartctl argument injection

Published Sep 12, 2025 · Updated Sep 12, 2025

Command injection in Zabbix Agent 2 smartctl plugin 5.0.0 through 5.0.46 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The smart.disk.get handler fails to validate its path and RAID-type parameters before appending them as arguments to smartctl. A user able to request Agent 2 monitoring items with malicious arguments can execute commands with the agent's smartctl privileges, which commonly require sudo or root access.
