SSRF and credential disclosure via absolute URLs
Published Mar 7, 2025 · Updated Mar 7, 2025
SSRF in Axios before 1.8.2 allows remote attackers to send requests to unintended hosts through attacker-controlled absolute URLs. The HTTP and XHR adapters pass config.url through buildFullPath, which returns an absolute requested URL unchanged instead of constraining it to baseURL. Exposure requires a consuming application to set baseURL and accept an attacker-controlled request URL; successful requests can reach internal hosts or disclose attached headers.
