CVE-2025-27144Network attack vector

Denial of service via unbounded token splitting

Published Feb 24, 2025 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

Denial of service in go-jose 4.0.0 through 4.0.4 allows remote attackers to exhaust memory via malformed compact JWS or JWE input. The ParseEncryptedCompact and parseSignedCompact paths split the entire input on every period before validating the expected five or three parts, allocating memory in proportion to attacker-supplied separators. A consuming application must pass attacker-controlled compact tokens to these parsers; repeated malformed tokens can exhaust process or host memory and interrupt the application service.
